Hello All -
Happy New Year.

I know lots of planning etc. going on to extend LC Pkwy, Rail, Northstar etc.
For short run anyone knows when will they connect Evergreen Ridge Dr (In LVE -II) with our Creighton Road. This will definitely relive traffic on Ryan Road and the cutting in front type of activity when people turn right onto Ryan from LC Pkwy while coming back from work in the evening.\

I recall Janet Clarke's newsletter stated before Spring 2013 and this excited me. Does anyone know. I personally toured the area near Stone Hill Middle School and it looks like its ready to go.

Also hear big rumbles in afternoon about blasts etc. What are they doing?

This is going to be trading one problem area for another, no doubt. Anyone cutting to Creighton and looking to do anything other than turn right onto BRR is likely in for a wait. And that intersection is already generating 1-2 accidents per week... that number should go up nicely.

Is there a place to see these accident reports? I pleaded my case to Supervisor Clark for a signal at that intersection. Her update in September said it's like 18 months out. I would like to forward her the accident reports to keep them to the fire on that estimate. Maybe plea for a short term solution if it's truly 1-2 per week..

I saw a pretty bad accident a few months ago and was surprised not to see anything on the sheriff's website.

Ha, no, sorry... I just pulled that number out of my rear based on what I see.

And it is heavenly (I say this now before dealing with the SHMS traffic issues).  will even be more heavenly taking it home from work tonight when I can go straight on LoCo Parkway and not have to deal with the bafoonery of the two right hand lanes turning onto Ryan.

Wait, so are you saying that Creighton now connects Loudoun County Parkway to Belmont Ridge Road? Nice!

I have a dream that some day Creighton will connect directly to 606 and I can get my McDonald/Arby's on 15 minutes quicker.

I don't think it connects to LoCo Parkway (the LoCo Pkwy that is also 606). Just to Evergreen Ridge.

How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?

It will, eventually. They need to build the LCP extension. Its supposed to be in engineering, now.

It's not even close to being in engineering. The portion of LCP that remains to be built is part of proffers Brambleton made around 2005 tied to their adult active community rezoning. The trigger for construction has not been met and likely won't be met for many years because who knows when that part of Brambleton will be built.

I know that the end destination is going to be wonderful and I'm eager to get there. I just need to learn how to enjoy the road there—maybe see the sights."—Maeve

Well, Brambleton has done design work on the section.  In particular, there are two pre-fab bridge pieces that need to be built, and Brambleton has submitted plans for VDOT approval on those.  Brambleton is proposing to move the proffers to construct the missing section to their new rezoning cases requesting additional units (there are five cases for a total of something like 880 units), which the BOS will consider sometime next year.   Several of us have been meeting with Brambleton and with staff working through this rezoning--its complicated and there are a lot of issues.  Obviously, all of us want this stretch of road built, and we also need school sites badly.  Its a difficult stretch of road to be built because of the Broad Run and other topographic challenges.

So LCP is going to come further south, cross Creighton and then merge into the current section of 606 that is labeled as LCP and hit 50?

What about Northstar?  Is that just going to terminate at Evergreen Mills?

Yes, LCP will come down and connect with 606.  It pretty much heads directly south from where it stops--of course there are a few turns due to topography and right of way.

Northstar is another road that exists in two places--the northern section from Ryan Road to the south, and a southern section from Tall Cedars Parkway to Braddock Road.   On the County plans, they connect across 50.  We currently have no proffer commitments to complete Northstar to 50, however that is subject to discussion with various developers, and is also under consideration by the Board for future County and state funding.  (Or maybe some combination where we front the money and receive proffers back, similar to what we just did with Gloucester and Pacific).

We have an immediate and critical need for north/south connections between Ashburn and the 50 corridor.  The two that would alleviate the most traffic (besides connecting LCP)  would be Northstar and Arcola Boulevard through the Arcola Center (to be built by proffers).  Neither are imminent but we're trying.
