So my wife and I were over at the Babies R Us off of 7 (yeah, the new reality..we spend Friday nights at baby stores), so we thought we'd run by DTC to see how the Cheesecake Factory was coming. Much to my surprise, it was up, running, and crowded. So we got out of the car to check it out.

Turns out they were doing some kind of friends and family training service where they try to work out the kinks. However, the person stationed at the door told us that they will be opening Monday and Tuesday, then if I heard her right, will be open for good starting next weekend. She warned that we should expect major waits and probably some sketchy service but that they would be trying their best.

On weekends, they will be open to 12:30 am (YES! FINALLY something open late around here!).

So, just thought I'd pass along--you may want to call to verify, but that's what we were told.

Thanks for asking. The baby is due Jan. 29.

Her work is putting on a shower, and then her family in upstate NY will be having one after Christmas. So after those, we'll probably have a better idea as to what we still need. Right now, we have the crib, a swing, some bouncy chair things and a newborn toy mat type of thing.

The shower is in Rochester, which is where her grandmother and some aunts/uncles love. She lived in Albany and Troy, but grew up mostly in Oswego.

Fortunately for me, Oswego is actually closer to Boston than New York City, and her dad spent some time im Cambridge, MA, so even before meeting me, she leaned toward the Red Sox side of the rivarly. (I'm from about 30 miles west of Boston).

They have carside delivery, if you want to avoid the wait. (Especially good when the weather is bad )

Ah, Rochester...I think there is someone else on this board from there. I know there are a lot of transplants from upstate down here. I used to work with people from Binghamton and Utica, and a handful of people that I went to high school with live down this way now. Unfortunatley, there just isn't much opportunity upstate anymore, so everyone is leaving.

Well there you go.

Her dad was actually a priest in the Episcopal Church, so they moved around some. Eventually, he moved to Miami where her parents are now! And I met her...at Catholic University (oh the irony)...
