Does any one have a recommendation for a good handyman? I need someone to clean out the dryer vent on the roof of my house. It's clogged and now the dryer isn't working so well. Better yet, does any one have a 40ft ladder and I'll do it myself. I usually do all that stuff, but I only have a 20ft ladder and need at least a 40ft one to get up on the roof. I'm not buying one for just that. If you have either one, please let me know!

I didn't even realize they made ladders that tall. Maybe you can rent one from the Depot.

If you don't find someone with a ladder call http://www.dryerventwizard.com/ we had them come clean our dryer vent and we were very pleased with their service.

How much does something like this cost?

Thanks.

We had an issue earlier this year with our vent being clogged, and had a hard time finding someone who would come out (including Dryer Vent Wizard) and climb up on the roof of our townhome. Due to safety and insurance reasons, everyone wanted to snake it from the inside of the house, and hope that it would work.

We ended up grabbing some binoculars and found that the cover was never removed when the house was built. We are not the original owners, and the house was more than a year old, yet we called Beazer (we have a Chancery TH). They came out next day, and brought a roofer with them. We agreed if the cap was still there, they would remove it and clean out the vent, if it wasn't there, then they would clean it out and charge us for the visit.

The cap was there, and Beazer took care of it. Amazing how the words "imminent danger from construction defect" elicited a response, but nonetheless, I was super impressed with the speed and ease of getting everything done. You may want to check that your vent was first properly installed...

Best of Luck!

I forget how much the visit was (over a year ago) and they did extra work for us - they replaced the cheap plastic vent thing with a proper metal one. I'm sure if you call them they will give you an estimate. Good luck!

Definitely lucky - and lucky we didn't burn down all of our neighbors! After we saw the cap, I had flashbacks (and nightmares) of all the times I left the house with the dryer going!

This made me laugh.

I've recently bought got a 24ft extension ladder to get to my vent on 3rd floor of a townhome. Wife want pleased with the new addition but I needed a reason to buy the ladder. I will say mocking birds are relentless, those damn things rebuilt there nest 5-6 times before giving up.
