This is a mixed use development with a baseball stadium that has been in the works, it's across 28 from Dulles TC.

Today the baseball team (a minor league equivalent, but not an MLB farm team) narrowed its names to 3 options, Silver Stars, Hounds, or Blue Herons.

The Blue Herons? Are you freakin' kidding me? Don't those things just poop crab shells?

Could be worse. Richmond named their new baseball team 'The Flying Squirrels'. At least herons have actually been seen around here.

This is funny because I believe it should be called the data / industrial team because that is what will be built here if the rest of kinora is not built. devillook.gif

I prefer the Loudoun Class A's, personally

I submitted a couple suggestions, including Dulles Flyers, they had a contest where the winner gets season tix.
The deadline was 5 pm Saturday, and interestingly, at 5:07 an email went to entrants saying they had a great time reviewing and had made their decision.
Made me think it might had already decided before Saturday, who knows. I think they could do better than those 3 they picked.

As for Kincorra, the poster is right, the stadium was approved separately and the remaining development has been held up, so who knows what else will happen.

I think they should be named the Dulles Greenways.

The rally cry could be, "Pay the TOLL!"

The project is currently at the Loudoun County Planning Commission level for review.

Read in one of the driveway papers that the Kincora site will also host a 'specialty food store' such as, possibly Trader Joe's....though they're not saying exactly who quite yet. That would be AWESOME!!

I read this article in the Independent tonight:

QUOTE
Developers behind the proposed Kincora community of homes, shops and offices slated for 400 acres at the Routes 7 and 28 interchange revealed Tuesday that they intend to include a “specialty” grocery store in their project. At 60,000 square feet, the store would be roughly half the size of a Giant or Safeway store, said John McGranahan, an attorney for the developers. He also said the store would cater to workers and residents of Kincora’s 1,400 homes, but likely would not be a place where residents do the bulk of their shopping.

In the grocery business, “specialty” often refers to stores that sell items not found in traditional grocers or to smaller stores, like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, both of which do not have locations in Loudoun.

"They are certainly on our list," said Michael Scott, one of Kincora's developers, adding that his brokers are speaking with several potential tenants.

Fingers crossed for a Trader Joes!

We were just at the Reston location tonight. Would love to have one closer.

The one in Reston isn't far at all, 10 minutes max. I'm surprised that you'd be all rah rah for the development. What about all of the wildlife in that area that is being disrupted?
adavis
I think the development is happening with or without my rah rah.

And since that's the case, I would like it to include places I will actually use and not one more Teet, Cal Tort, Coldstone enclave.

You are correct that it's really not that far to the Reston Trader Joe's and if there was an option to have the development trumped for greenspace, I would be on board, but I think the dye is already cast here.

Just keepin it real.
