Is anyone interested in meeting up with candidates for the Board of Directors? They have to file by 5 PM tomorrow. Once we know who's running, we could plan a time before the Annual Meeting to learn why they're running and what they hope to accomplish.

Damn, is the deadline tomorrow? I still haven't had a chance to sit down and put together my platform. Might have to wait until next year.

I did consider running, but my work schedule is too hectic right now to take on anything new.

Any other 'Onians running?

+1

I used to be on a BOD back in NJ for a community org. Was similar to an HOA, probably similar to size of Brambleton. However I just don't think I can commit the amount of time right now.

LOL. I haven't even looked at it yet. Was going to reply with a smarta$$ comment, and then I saw that sneaky little trick in the reply with quote...

So, you think the BOD will help? LOL!

I think if I ran, my wife might move out of the hood! J/K.

In all seriousness, I am running. Submitted my application yesterday. My name is Steve Wright, we live on Klondike.

My platform is simple, I want the roads in Phase II fixed. Really tired of dodging manhole covers after four years here.

Also would like to improve communication between the Resident Board rep and the residents.

Could use your vote, so please respond when they put out the call for votes by proxy or at the upcoming annual meeting next month.

Thanks, Steve cool.gif

What are the responsibilities and authority of the Board? Put another way, what difference is it to me who sits on the BoD? Not trying to be an a-hole, just trying to understand so I can vote for the candidate that makes the most sense to me.

In this case it is important if you want to be represented and heard in any decisions that are made about our community. Currently the board is made up of five people, four are appointed by and employees of the Developer, the Brambleton Group based out of Michigan, the fifth is the elected resident representative. That's the position that is currently coming open. So the difference is, you get one vote on the board to carry forward the opinions of the residents. It will remain this way until the community is near completion and they begin to transition to all resident membership. As more houses are built, we get more resident members on the board. Hope this helps, Steve.

Thanks, Steve. I appreciate the explanation.

I didn't know if it was like in school, when we voted someone in for Class President because they promised free ice cream at lunch and a party once a month. wink2.gif Although if you were to throw that in, I'm sure that would help secure some additional votes for you. Good luck with the election. smile13.gif

Free ice cream will win my vote.

Steve,
Thanks for the input here...I got my packet yesterday, and logged in to do a little research. It was nice to see that both of the candidates want to use technology to increase neighborhood communication--it was even better to see you are on the 'onian!

Thanks, and good luck!

Thanks. Show your support by coming to the annual meeting on the 10th of Nov or send in your proxy vote. It's important that we have a representative that will listen to the residents, take action with the board, and then provide feedback to everyone. I think that's what we are missing. Steve
