Red County Bound
Just drove through he infamous intersection of LCP and Waxpool. The redesign is on. They had about 12 trucks and 30 workers. They are making the 2 right lanes turn only lanes. They appear to be putting in new lights with turn arrows for both lanes.
OntheRiver
About time. I wonder if the cheaters will now turn from the 3rd lane.

I think yes. In the meantime, if they could refrain from doing that between 830 and 9, it would be much appreciated. loooong ass back up there this morning.

It was really bad this morning since some genius cop decided to park his cruiser jutting out into Waxpool immediately after the right turn. I understand you were there to help out with an accident, but you were just asking to cause another.

Or cut in from the third lane to the second at the last minute. I understand that in a few cases people who aren't familiar with the intersection may have genuinely made a mistake, but... for the other 98.3% what make you so important that you need to cut to the front front?!?!

Hmm, didnt notice an arrow for the other lane. Hope so, it is so needed.
matt
They also changed the two left hand turn lanes on Waxpool to Loudoun Co Pkwy coming out of Ashburn. Now there's only one left turn and 3 through lanes.

Evidentually they think that their time is much more important than ours...of course, I also get a little peeved at those who don't keep up and let car after car cut in front of them....

Seemed maybe a touch shorter. When you think about it, nothing actually changed other than the legality of it all. I was trying to figure out if they altered the timing of the lights at all but nothing stood out.

What do you mean by sailed through? Maybe I need to adjust my schedule a bit!
stuarts wife
Lights do seem to be timed better. Did notice that there is now only one left turn (Waxpool to LCP), which will be good for eastbound traffic on Waxpool.

That's good. What time was it?

In the a.m.(around cool.gif, I'm usually coming the opposite way(waxpool to LCP), and backed up traffic didnt look that bad.

Nice. I entered the queue at 8:10 and it took about three cycles.

Now if they could just have a Rt 28 exit for Wegmans that didn't snarl Waxpool traffic.

Yes and it'll also be nice when there's another way to get out of there.

*Supposedly* Pacific is being connected between Severn and Nokes and should be completed in March. Of course, I don't know if there is anything on the plans to connect Pacific from Wegmans to Severn which would then make an alternate entrance/exit to the shopping center from Nokes/Rt. 28.

They recently broke ground on the extension of Pacific to Severn - expected to open to traffic in August 2010.

As per the Jan 2009 newletter from Lori Waters (Broad Run District), work should have already started on extending Pacific Blvd from Autoworld Drive to Severn Way. That; coupled with the fact that Pacific will be extended from Severn to Nokes Blvd (as part of the Nokes Blvd-28 interchange work) will provide an alternate once obth project are completed.

I have not gone on Pacific beyond Wegmans/Target but maybe someone has and can update if the work has already started to extend Pacific Blvd.

Does that include extending Pacific to Severn? I was looking at the Rt. 28 project (www.28freeway.com) and they are doing Pacific from Nokes to Severn, but I hadn't heard anything about doing the final connection between Severn and Target/Wegmans.

It is all under construction as we speak.

The real problem is gloucester and the final connection to russell branch parkway. If the signature development of Kincora is not approved you can kiss those connections goodbye perhaps in our lifetime.

Yep it is in trouble from the responses I have gotten from my emails to the BOS. Some of the BOS don't like the residential and the stadium.

First it would be urban residential and would attract singles and married with no children and the BOS could limit the residential.

Second some don't like the stadium, but the stadium would be a asset to Loudoun and perhaps used by the schools at times.

McGimsey has said she wanted it developed as zoned which is keynote development.

Well keynote development is by right which means no gloucester for a long long time and Kincora has said so if they develop by right.

Keynote usually has been the cheapest of the cheapest type of design and construction and use most likely Non green and super polluting data and industrial. That would be a crime if that prime piece of property is developed that way.

Kincora wants to develop as platinum leed certified and immediately build gloucester.

Nope it will come before the board soon for a vote.

There is another major town center proposed for the corner of rt 28 and the toll road adjacent to the future metro station will also be coming before the board sometime in the new future and has the same

problems as Kincora even though it is walking distance to the metro.

Sounds like the BOS is about to shoot itself in the foot yet again and again.
