I am not a cat person, but I just saw two very cute kittens on Explorer Drive. They saw me and the dog and ran into a drain along the curb. One was black the other was a butterscotch color. Looked healthy. What does one do in circumstances such as these? I don't know anything about cats, but I'm afraid one of them is going to get smooshed. Anyone want a really cute kitty? If you're coming from Legacy, make a right onto Minerva and a right onto Explorer. Near the end of the common area right before the first house, there's a drain. They hopped in there as soon as they saw us.

chuckling... at first I thought the subject was: AFFORDABLE kittens on the loose.

Hey, with this economy, you never know.

They are right next to a huge drain and we're afraid that we're going to scare them and that they're going to fall down into the drain. Does anyone have a net they can loan me? Like a fishing net or something similar?

From other posts I have seen on the forum, I think they may live in the storm drain.

Do you have a plan for them if you catch them? I thought about a similar mission a few months ago, but the rescue shelter (where we adopted our cats) I contacted was all full. sad2.gif

Really? I hadn't seen anything, but I haven't posted as much as usual either.

My mother-in-law is big into cat rescue, so she's going to see if she can get someone to take them. I wouldn't be surprised if she kept them herself though if she couldn't find someone to take them.

I have some dry kitten food to donate to the cause if you need it. My suggestion to draw them out would be an open can of wet cat food.

We also have a pop up kennel that you could use to house them if needed.

My daughter and I caught some kitties a few months ago on Explorer. We first used our own cat carrier and put food in the back of it. The kitties caught a wiff of the food smell, in they went and then we shut the door. After trapping two kitties that way, we went to the LoCo Animal Shelter and got one of their traps to try and lure the mama cat into it, but we weren't successful. I wonder if these two kitties are from the same litter.

There's also 2 little kitties on Chatlain now, in a storm drain with their mama and I believe these are different kitties. I saw someone who lives down there feeding them, but the best thing to do would be to trap them and take them to a shelter.

We have a crate and my MIL put out food and milk for them. I just can't stand by the drain all day waiting for them to come out. They really are really cute, and again, I am not a cat person. I doubt these are the same litter. These guys look very young. Could be wrong, though.

Let me know if you need help. I could spend some time trying to lure them out. Good luck and bless you for helping baby kitties!

At noon, I saw one small black kitten in the storm drain on Explorer near Minerva but the dear doggie I was walking wanted to gobble her so I could do nothing but keep walking & quickly.
