Due to the bad weather this past year the price of beer in 2008 will be going up a good bit. Germany was only able to harvest 1% of its hop crop this year. So not a good thing and the crappy weather in Washington state and the mid west didn't help either. The price of hops has gone up 400%. Unfortunately this means that a few Va breweries will be going out of business. The current bet is that 3-4 Va breweries will go out of business. So in this area if you likes Vintage 50 get your fix because the word is they will be going out of business in 2008. So beer lovers brace yourself for limited supplies and higher costs. Think $9-12 a drink. If you drink Bud or any of their stuff no need to worry they grow all their own stuff so no cost increase.

Germany was only able to harvest 1% of its hop crop this year. If that were true, all of the 1000+ german breweries would be going out of business. In Bavaria, there is a 10% plus in hops this year and an estimated 8.5% plus in Germany total. Maybe it's just a rumour to justify higher beer prices, who knows? |

Yeungling? Sam Adams? Killians? Miller Lite? Oh yeah, I probably mis-spoke...I should have said I haven't seen any of the bigger brands...Miller / Bud / Coors. Then again, it's not like I'm exactly an expert on NoVa beer choices, much less beer in general. -------------------- "We could have decades of double-digit growth and not grow our way out of this enormous debt problem. Maybe it's just a rumour to justify higher beer prices, who knows? Well my info comes straight from a brewer so I'll tend to believe him. What it means is that you'll have a very hard time finding German style beers outside of Germany. |

It looks like someone attempting to look like Jabba the Hut, or a very scary looking slice of pizza. |
