Well we finally made it here at 5am Sunday morning
The flight was great MaxJet has an incredible plane lay out there is like 5ft of leg room and that is not an exaggeration! The flight attendants were amazing! And the food was delicious - a nice salad and bread to start then I had the Lobster with the crab stuffing - scrumptious and I'm a lobster snob b/c of growing up in Maine. It was the longest flight I have ever been on 7 hrs - but it was also the best flight! Even though they forgot to load on 1 of our bags which had pur bathroom stuff as well as the umbrella and our hats!
Once we arrived we checked into the hotel - which is a 2 minute walk from the airport. The hotel rocks! Super modern - and in the center of the lobby is a "wine tower" it's made of glass and these gymnastic people do arocbatics to get the bottles of wine or display banners - VERY cool to watch!
So Sunday 5/27 - was all about chilling - We hung out with some of the flight attendants and pilots - had a great time with them
Boy you learn a lot about the airline business and planes when you hang out with a group like that
Very fun!
Today, Monday 5/28 - We rented a car and drove out to stone henge! OMG best time ever - okay I will admitt it was a bit crazy at first not knowing where to go etc - and the whole driving on the wrong side of the car and on the wrong side of the road - ugh was frustrating at first but we got the hang of it in no time. Jason drive and I was the navigator - we rented a NICE car and it had GPS but the problem was the GPS was set to GERMAN! The AVIS people couldn't figure out how to change it we tried couldnt do it - so anyway off we go - we used Jason's blackberry thank the lord for google maps ![]()
The drive was beautiful - all country side. It rained the 2 hour drive and started clearing up just as we reached stone henge. Wow/Amesome - is all I can say to describe how big and massive the stones are. I mean the pictures and seeing it on TV is NOTHING like seeing it in person - it was just incredible. We got some good pics - although we still didn't have our hats or umbrellas so our hair is a bit funky in the pics but whatever - all about the memories
Its not London unless it rains - or so they say. It's also very cold here like today was 45 degrees VERY windy.
After we left Stonehenge we headed to Windsor Palace- The castle was closed by the time we arrived, however the town is so cute we walked all around in the rain and got some cute pics of the castle and of the small town. I just fell in love with this place!
I'm having a hard time with the accents and understanding what the hell they are saying - I mean its english - just different! I almost wish they were speaking a foreign language then I would be so frustrated!
Some people speak slower and then it is easier to follow but when they get going hell if I know what they are talking about
Another thing - EVERYTHING is fricken expensive here. For a bottle of Coke 2.50 pound which is like $5 American - CRAZY! On our adventure today we pulled off at one of the "Welcome Breaks" (what we call in the US a rest stop) had lunch at Burger King and for 2 value meals it was the equivalent of $30US! I just don't understand how people can afford to live here.
Anyway, we are having a blast and I am so happy we are here! And now we FINALLY have our other suitcase - yaya tomorrow I won't have to walk in the rain w/o my umbrella
