Empty Nesting Sydrome?

So we have had friends stay with us for over a year now and they moved out this weekend and into their new townhouse. It is a very strange feeling I am having - like I'm happy for them and happy about it just being me and el8 again - but on the other hand I'm kinda sad to have them gone and REALLY sad that the baby is gone too - even though they are only 10-15 mins away it's still not the same. So I have been redoing the house in the last 48 hours - Anyway, it's turning out to be a good little project - starting to look real good! And we are doing it on the cheap just moving couches and stuff from one room into another - kinda cool way to redecorate w/o spending a lot of $$! Plus we are saving money by "borrowing" some of Jason's family furniture that they have in storage
(our house feels empty without our friend's stuff in it) But we do need to spend some flow on a new TV, which of course Jason is thrilled about and actually I am too - it will be nice to have a dedicated TV for video games - and it will be VERY nice to have the Wii downstairs where we can actually MOVE around a lot more! So I guess what I am going through is empty nesting?!?! Whatever it is - I am getting a lot accomplished!
The interview!

Well I had an interview yesterday and it went amazing. I'm really hoping I get this job - HR Assistant in fairfax - so I'm pretty excited.
I should hear sometime at the end of this week or sometime next week. I hate waiting it's horrible not knowing! But anyway, I'm really excited about this opportunity.
Our London adventure - Part II

Well Tuesday Jason worked all day so I lounged around the hotel and read a book and had a nice relaxing day.
Wednesday we took the train into the city and hopped on one of those tour bus things - we got drenched but we had a blast! There are a gazllion beautiful buildings in the London. I was in awe of the architectural designs - each building has so much detail - it was seriously gorgeous. We hopped on and off the bus and saw the sights. Harrod's was AMAZING! If you are a shopper and have tons of $$$ this is the place for you. We didn't buy anything - at least for ourselves WAY too expensive but it was fun to walk around and look. After we left Harrod's the weather cleared up so we did some more walking around the city. I just can't believe how big this place is. I mean it seems WAAAAAAAAAAAAY bigger than NYC - there are huge parks and everywhere you look there are incredible buildings and millions and millions of people everywhere. One of my favorite places we went was Pick a Dilly - very cute section of the city - tons or shops and eateries and just so much to see - they even have a huge screen thing on some buildings - very time square-ish.
Thursday - Today 5/31 we took the train into the city and hopped a cab to the Tower of London. We paid to get one of those audio guide things - well worth the $. This place is a must see if you ever come to the city. So much history took place here it was so much fun - even though some of the parts were freaky talking about how - shit I forget now - I think one of the Henry's Killed his 2 nephews so he could be the king and the boys were only 12 and younger. Just crazy. We also got to see the Crown Jewels of many of the Kings and Queens. Of course they were in this huge glass cases so I didn't get to touch them but still VERY cool. They also had a display of some of the serving and dishware - all made in GOLD. The tower is huge and it was a great fun learning adventure well worth the time spent there. Then we headed back to Pick a Dilly for lunch - by the way the food here is NOT so great - very bland and you get sick of having Pub food. So we had lunch at TGI Friday's - best food we have had since we have been here! While we were there Jason got a call about work so we finished up lunch and headed back to the train to get back to the hotel so Jason could get back to work - which it sucked b/c the weather is GORGEOUS today - but I understand I mean we are here b/c he has work to do.
Anyway - we go home tomorrow which totally sucks! There is still so much I want to see and do - But I'm sure we will be back someday to see and do more - but this was totally an amazing experience.
Our London adventure - Part I

Well we finally made it here at 5am Sunday morning
The flight was great MaxJet has an incredible plane lay out there is like 5ft of leg room and that is not an exaggeration! The flight attendants were amazing! And the food was delicious - a nice salad and bread to start then I had the Lobster with the crab stuffing - scrumptious and I'm a lobster snob b/c of growing up in Maine. It was the longest flight I have ever been on 7 hrs - but it was also the best flight! Even though they forgot to load on 1 of our bags which had pur bathroom stuff as well as the umbrella and our hats!
Once we arrived we checked into the hotel - which is a 2 minute walk from the airport. The hotel rocks! Super modern - and in the center of the lobby is a "wine tower" it's made of glass and these gymnastic people do arocbatics to get the bottles of wine or display banners - VERY cool to watch!
So Sunday 5/27 - was all about chilling - We hung out with some of the flight attendants and pilots - had a great time with them
Boy you learn a lot about the airline business and planes when you hang out with a group like that
Very fun!
Today, Monday 5/28 - We rented a car and drove out to stone henge! OMG best time ever - okay I will admitt it was a bit crazy at first not knowing where to go etc - and the whole driving on the wrong side of the car and on the wrong side of the road - ugh was frustrating at first but we got the hang of it in no time. Jason drive and I was the navigator - we rented a NICE car and it had GPS but the problem was the GPS was set to GERMAN! The AVIS people couldn't figure out how to change it we tried couldnt do it - so anyway off we go - we used Jason's blackberry thank the lord for google maps ![]()
The drive was beautiful - all country side. It rained the 2 hour drive and started clearing up just as we reached stone henge. Wow/Amesome - is all I can say to describe how big and massive the stones are. I mean the pictures and seeing it on TV is NOTHING like seeing it in person - it was just incredible. We got some good pics - although we still didn't have our hats or umbrellas so our hair is a bit funky in the pics but whatever - all about the memories
Its not London unless it rains - or so they say. It's also very cold here like today was 45 degrees VERY windy.
After we left Stonehenge we headed to Windsor Palace- The castle was closed by the time we arrived, however the town is so cute we walked all around in the rain and got some cute pics of the castle and of the small town. I just fell in love with this place!
I'm having a hard time with the accents and understanding what the hell they are saying - I mean its english - just different! I almost wish they were speaking a foreign language then I would be so frustrated!
Some people speak slower and then it is easier to follow but when they get going hell if I know what they are talking about
Another thing - EVERYTHING is fricken expensive here. For a bottle of Coke 2.50 pound which is like $5 American - CRAZY! On our adventure today we pulled off at one of the "Welcome Breaks" (what we call in the US a rest stop) had lunch at Burger King and for 2 value meals it was the equivalent of $30US! I just don't understand how people can afford to live here.
Anyway, we are having a blast and I am so happy we are here! And now we FINALLY have our other suitcase - yaya tomorrow I won't have to walk in the rain w/o my umbrella
The trip
Posted by becca, May 1 2007, 11:21 AM
We packed one big suit case for our trip and we got to the airport and it was overweight by 1.5 lbs so we took out our sneakers and put them in our carry on bag - no big deal. By the time we landed in Orlando our suitcase had been gone through by TSA and they broke the zippers off the suitcase, so I tried to fix it and made it worse. So Jason had to carry the suitcase like a baby around the entire airport. We took a shuttle from the airport to the hotel we were staying at and we had a cool driver we stopped by Wal*Mart so we could get new luggage, so that problem was resolved. Thank God we had a nice driver and for a big tip was willing to stop by the store so we could get new luggage!
We arrive at the hotel Thursday night around 10:30 pm and hang out with Jason's family, his grandparents had already gone to bed. We wake up Friday morning to find out that Jason's g'pa had been rushed to the ER b/c he thought he was having a heart attack. The admit him and run a bunch of tests - turns out he has a VERY bad infection - so Jason's grandparents stay in Orlando and miss the Cruise - They released him yesterday and they flew back home last night. He is okay but he needs to take it easy for a few days.
Well 45 mins before we are suppose to leave for the cruise Jason's uncle realizes he lost his birth certificate, which is needed b/c he doesn't have a passport so more drama happens - long story he ends up making it on the cruise.
Where Jason's grandparents had paid for a suite and did not buy vacation insurance their suite will sit empty - so Jason decides we should have the suite, and we get it! It was amazing - huge balcony with seating and the room was just beautiful.
The wedding was on Saturday and Jason's sister was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. After the wedding we go to Senior Frogs at Nassau and get our buzz on
Very fun time! We check out the little shops and buy a new hand bag
We go back to the ship and hit up the casino - well by 3am I was $100 up on the day and drunk as a skunk so I decided that it would be a good idea to let the $100 ride on the roulette wheel - I place the $100 marker on Red - it hits I win - Patsy, Jason's other sister and I both hooter and holler. I do it again another $100 on red I win again - this time Patsy yells out HOLY SHIT - the pit boss guy comes over and tells her no swearing please and we get the stink eye. So I do it again, another $100 on red and I win again!
One more time and I decided this time I was feeling Black I lost that one - but I made $300 bucks in like 1minute - it was amazing and just fun - I would have NEVER EVER done that had I been sober but whatever it was a blast and I made some cashola!
Sunday we went snorkeling at CoCo Cay it was amazing, I have been snorkeling before but never have seen soooo many fish. It was like I was swimming in an aquarium. Just breath taking.
We had lots to drink and spent lots of quality time with the family, which was nice
We gambled and were big winners!
We came home with as much money as we went with, which is a nice feeling!
We both highly recommend Royal Caribbean Cruise line - the staff was amazing and we had a blast! All in all a very good trip with some bumps in the way but everyone is safe and healthy - I wish it was a 5 night cruise instead of 3 - it was just too short!
There's no place like home (clicking my red heels)

I made the trip home last night! It was a good drive not much traffic at all. It's soooo nice to be home. I love visiting my family and everything but it's just not home anymore. As the years pass by, I realize I could never live there again, there is just nothing to do! The only real thing I miss is my family (most of the time...) and Maine's a beautiful place - the mountains and lakes are incredible. So anyway I'm happy to be home!
Well I made it!

After 10 long hours I'm here (Maine). The drive was nice but it's a long time to be in the car especially by your lonesome.
No plans for today. I'm thinking I'm gonna chill out this morning and then go see my g'pa. Oh yeah, by the way it's snowing! GRRRRRR!
So I leave 80+ degree temps to get here and to find out ohhh look a Noreastern is coming. I guess we will get about a foot. UGH! I like snow but I'm in spring mode not winter!
Wooohooo National Winners!

never stress this too much because I do not
want to place updue pressure on the teams.
Ladies, you read, you strategized, you

Well today is my last night of classes! Woooooohooooo
The good news is my teammate and I finished the paper - 29 freak'n pages wooohooo! The presentation is *almost* (just putting the last minute touches) completed. I'm not worried about the presentation I can talk about anything for 30 minutes!
I'm happy, excited, proud, stressed, anxious, and nervous. All of these feelings all together make for one crazy girl. I'm trying not to think about the next step yet and instead focus on enjoying this moment in my life, but that is a hard thing to do.
I'm going on a road trip to Maine to see my family and friends. Not exactly sure when I'm leaving/coming back. But I'm happy to be going up there.
My classes
Posted by becca, Jan 19 2007, 09:18 AM
Well school has started back up again. 3/22 can't get here fast enough
I'm taking Bus 499 which is a business simulation, it's very interesting and we compete with our classmates see how we are ranking against the rest of the people in the Nation that are doing the simulation. I have learned a ton, but this class has taken over my life. (the main reason why I'm never on 'onian' anymore) Basic premise: In groups - your company makes/sells electronic sensors and you have 5 products on the market. Now, your group must come up with a business strategy and make decisions for production, pricing, marketing, promotion, financing, R&D, plant equipment, capacity, HR decisions. It's like a top down view of a company. So it's a ton of fun, and yet a TON of work.
Then I'm also in a Contemporary International Problems - Also an interesting class (makes for good discussions)
And then we have Computer Ethics - It's a so so class, pretty much straight forward.
I'm VERY excited these are my last 13.5 credits to get my BS degree! And I have been so busy with these classes that I haven't had any time to start thinking about the future and getting my resume together. Ugh, I guess that all can wait until I have some free time.
