> Recent negativity
Posted by el8 - 11/18/08 11:40am - 25 comments
This is actually my second time writing this, as the first attempt was foiled by my work laptop kicking the proverbial bucket.

I've received many (many, many, many) PMs over the last few months regarding the negative tone on Brambletonian. Much of it was politically driven, and I figured it would subside after the election. It has not.

Many of our regular posters have now left Brambletonian because of this change of tone. This cannot go on. Despite some of us not living in Brambleton, we're all neighbors, and we're all adults. Everyone here deserves to be treated respectfully for those reasons. If that's not possible, ignoring is always an option (available under the "My Controls" link).

Brambletonian started as an alternative to the heavily moderated, featureless, boring Brambleton HOA site. We've had happy hours, parties, and other events where all Brambletonians were invited. We've gotten away from that, and I intend to do my part to fix it. The recent personal attacks, infighting, rumor mongering, and nastiness will stop. I'll be taking a much more active role in making sure of it as well.

In the past, I've taken a hands-off approach to discussions here. I've let folks have their say to one another, to the detriment to everyone else.

Effective immediately, anyone posting (in my judgement) personal attacks, rumor mongering about other members, or otherwise mean-spirited posts will be moderated and warned. If it happens again, a 3-day account suspension will be given. If it happens again, the user will be banned permanently.

I can't be any more clear about this. The tone here has to change, I simply won't allow Brambletonian to be a vessel of negativity any longer.

As always, please feel free to contact me privately if you have any questions.

> Multiple Accounts
Posted by el8 - 11/17/08 10:28pm - 30 comments
Per the TOS at registration...

"Only one registration per user is allowed. This rule will be strictly enforced. If you are unable to recover your account, please contact Brambletonian administration."

I'm not playing. It's a huge waste of resources (my time and server capacity), and looks very bad on those who do it. This serves as a final warning for everyone. If you register multiple accounts, I will track you down and delete/ban all related accounts.

There is only one exception to this rule, and that is for business owners who wish to post separately as a business and as an individual. These circumstances are worked out individually, on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions about this, contact me directly.

> Software Upgrade
Posted by el8 - 09/27/08 01:11pm - 3 comments
I just upgraded Brambletonian to the newest version of it's software. Mostly behind the scenes changes. A new major release should be coming towards the end of the year.

Blogs look better, and have better interaction with places like Facebook, del.icio.us, and others.

Let me know if you see any issues pop up.
